I began my day meditating. I didn’t know exactly what I would commit to doing today so that seemed an appropriate way to start.
Afterwards, I found myself on the porch with a little stick insect next to me on the wall. The day looked gray.
Sitting on the porch, I could see an unfamiliar and peculiar little white ball in the almond tree. I looked closer.
I decided to see what was in the tree today.
I came upon a bee.
But it was more than what first met my eye.
I was happy to leave the spider.
The ants seem very independent in the tree.
The detail surrounding the ant is curious.
I saw a cluster of white specks on the back of a leaf so I decided to look closer.
All of them would fit on the nail of my thumb.
The almond tree was like a busy international airport with butterflies taking off and landing throughout the day.
I walked to the far side of the tree. He was as interested in being close to me as I was to him.
Eventually, I went inside. As a matter of coincidence, I had decided earlier in the day that I would put the screens on the windows to help keep bugs out. So I did that.
Then I made organic mayonnaise with mustard, garlic, and lime.
There’s a small selection of DVDs here at the house which includes Shrek 1 and 2, a few seasons of Seinfeld and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. So tonight, I watched Ferris Bueller while eating a bowl of popcorn.
Interactions were minimal today. Movies are nice because my mind mostly shuts down to focus on the movie. Same with meditating: stepping into the present moment. I really need to start surfing again.
