I’ve developed a keen interest in photographing all of the insects, bugs, and creatures all around. The vast diversity in life in it’s smaller forms is astounding. I could spend a day and find one hundred different creatures in the yard.

I’ve also developed an interest in photographing the birds. I have this peculiar interest now in trying to catch them at awkward or unusual moments. Sitting still and pretty is wonderful. Awkward is awesome.

I was going to Jacó to meet a client about surf photography this morning and so packed my bag with my camera, a couple of lenses, and some other items in preparation for leaving. When I was finally making my way out the door, I went to pick up the bag and there was a scorpion on the outside of it. I grabbed the strap carefully to take it outside and the scorpion ran INTO the bag. After I got it outside, I realized there were TWO scorpions in the bag. (See photo.)

This slowed my morning down. Especially since delicate and expensive equipment was in that bag.

Sadly, one of the scorpions didn’t survive my attempt to get them out of the bag. He was critically injured. Ants took care of him. The other one scurried under the house. (Video of that.)

Policía.

Policía.

Apparently, someone stole a bicycle and every officer from this town and the neighboring three towns was on hand. Seriously, I think this was all about a bicycle. I could be wrong, but police stopping and gathering somewhere is something you just don’t see. You usually just see them riding in pairs on their motorbikes.

Met the client, set up a date/time, went to the beach and photographed some other surfers.

I like shooting surfers. It’s fun. It’s challenging. It’s rewarding.

The end.
