Vistas everywhere on the bus.

The bus ride to and from San Jose is never the same. I’ve done the trip five times now. Sometimes it’s just an obstacle in the road that mixes things up. And then sometimes, somebody has slipped the driver a few extra colones to sway the driver to go up that winding mountain road to get them closer to their house.

Forgive the focus, I was going for deep before I realized what was close. This is a definitively Costa Rican street.

En route to the airport the other day, I had been dozing in and out and when I opened my eyes, the bus was crawling over a couple of large potholes on a semi-paved road. We stopped in some small town, an older woman at the back of the bus yelled “Gracias” and then she exited the bus.

See the road over there on the mountain? That's this road! Which is awesome!

Granted, the bus from Jacó to San Jose (and back) isn’t a non-stop bus. The bus stops in about 3-5 different locations near both the starting and destination points of the trip (like in Orotina or Ganado). But then there are sometimes these little stops completely off route.

Anyway, I took some photos from the trip back the other day because it’s just such a gorgeous ride. All of those photos are located here. Enjoy!
